101-Year-Old Man Casts Ballot Early on Election Day

On Election Day, a remarkable 101-year-old man joined the early voters in Pasig City. Romeo Santana showed determination as he lined up to vote at San Miguel Elementary School, proving that age is no barrier to exercising one’s right.

Despite special accommodations for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and pregnant women on the ground floor, Santana chose to walk up to the third floor. He was accompanied by his 92-year-old brother, Manuel, showing that voting is truly a family affair.

Senior Citizen’s Vote Reflects Strong Determination

When asked about his voting experience, Santana shared, “Mabuti naman. Asikasong-asikaso. Tinulungan kaming maghanap ng presinto, mayroon kaming guide papunta dito.” His words highlight the helpfulness of the polling staff and the smooth process despite the challenges of his age.

He also expressed why he pushed through with voting, saying, “Gusto kong iboto ‘yung kandidatong gusto ko eh.” This simple yet powerful statement shows the strong desire of senior citizens to have their voices heard.

Indeed, the 101-year-old man casts ballot early on Election Day is an inspiring reminder that every vote counts, regardless of age. His commitment encourages others, especially the elderly, to participate actively in shaping the country’s future.
