Fifteen towns and cities across the Philippines brace for an intense heat wave this Monday, May 5. Temperatures are set to soar, with heat indices reaching a dangerous 42°C to 45°C, putting many at risk of heat-related illnesses.
The state weather bureau’s latest bulletin reveals that some areas will face scorching heat levels classified under the “danger” category. This means a heightened threat of heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and even heat stroke.
Here’s a breakdown of the hottest spots to watch out for:
At a blistering 45°C, places like Dagupan City in Pangasinan, Aparri and Tuguegarao City in Cagayan, ISU Echague in Isabela, and Sangley Point in Cavite City will bear the brunt of the heat.
Close behind at 44°C are the same locations except the bulletin highlights these spots distinctly.
Meanwhile, the heat index will hit 43°C in NAIA Pasay City, Laoag City in Ilocos Norte, and Tayabas City in Quezon.
Other areas expected to endure 42°C include MMSU in Batac, Ilocos Norte, Bacnotan in La Union, Iba in Zambales, Cubi Point in Subic Bay, Olongapo City, TAU Camiling in Tarlac, and Masbate City.
