Police Officers Restricted in Missing Sabungeros Case
MANILA, Philippines — Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla announced that 15 police officers linked to the missing sabungeros case have been placed under restricted duty. This action aims to prevent their involvement in ongoing operations while investigations continue.
During an interview at the Department of Justice, Remulla revealed that the 15 Philippine National Police members are currently being probed after being tagged as the “executioners” in the disappearance of several sabungeros, or cockfighting enthusiasts.
Investigations Intensify on Missing Sabungeros Case
“There are now restrictions on 15 members of the Philippine National Police involved in the missing sabungeros case,” Remulla told reporters. “They are on restricted duty and must report to designated offices. This ensures they cannot take part in police operations for the time being.”
The move reflects the seriousness with which authorities are handling this case, as the missing sabungeros have drawn significant public concern. The restrictions help preserve the integrity of the investigation and prevent any interference from the implicated officers.
Whistleblower Under Protection
Meanwhile, Remulla confirmed that whistleblower Julie “Dondon” Patidongan is currently under the protection of the Philippine National Police, personally overseen by Police Chief General Nicolas Torre. Patidongan has been instrumental in the case, having identified businessman Atong Ang as the alleged mastermind behind the disappearances. Furthermore, he implicated actress Gretchen Barretto in the incident.
This development adds new layers to the investigation as authorities continue to unravel the truth behind the missing sabungeros.
