Peaceful Start to 2025 Bar Exams Nationwide
The 2025 Bar Exams began peacefully across the Philippines, officials reported. Supreme Court Associate Justice Amy Lazaro-Javier, chairperson of the examination, confirmed that the morning of the first day was “absolutely peaceful.” She emphasized, “Wala talaga (There was no), at all, record of violence. Peaceful. I can’t even say that it’s generally, it’s absolutely peaceful at least for the first day morning examinations.”
Exam Schedule and Testing Centers
The three-day event is scheduled on September 7, 10, and 14, with 14 local testing centers hosting examinees nationwide. The University of Santo Tomas (UST) serves as the national headquarters for this year’s bar exam. Besides UST, the other centers include San Beda University Manila, New Era University Quezon City, and Manila Adventist College Pasay, among others.
Strong Attendance and Gender Breakdown
Out of 13,193 registered examinees, 11,437 took the first day of the 2025 Bar Exams, sources revealed. Female examinees outnumbered males, with 6,673 women compared to 4,764 men, marking a notable trend in the demographics of test takers.
Robust Security Measures in Place
Security was tight to ensure a smooth exam process. A total of 118 personnel guarded the UST premises, including 77 from the Philippine National Police, six from the Bureau of Fire Protection, and 11 from the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. The Philippine Coast Guard contributed nine officers, supplemented by three UST marshals and 12 barangay officials.
Contingency Plans for Weather Challenges
Officials are prepared for potential rain or flooding during the remaining days of the 2025 Bar Exams. Justice Lazaro-Javier assured that buses are ready to transport examinees who may become stranded, demonstrating proactive planning to avoid disruptions.
