MALASIQUI, Pangasinan — Severe Tropical Storm Crising has forced the evacuation of 209 families, totaling 692 individuals, from 17 villages across La Union province. The storm’s impact has prompted urgent safety measures as local authorities respond to the unfolding crisis.
As of 9 a.m. on Saturday, 11 families (29 individuals) were housed in evacuation centers, while 91 families (326 individuals) sought refuge with relatives or alternative accommodations, local leaders noted. The province remains on red alert as officials mobilized all rescue vehicles and equipment. The response fleet includes one ambulance, three high-lift off-road vehicles, a utility vehicle, a transport vehicle, a boom truck, a rescue truck, a jetski, and three rubber boats. These assets are deployed to ensure swift assistance wherever needed.
Four rescue teams, each with four members, have been dispatched to critical areas throughout La Union. Authorities also prepared 819 evacuation centers stocked with essential supplies to accommodate residents displaced by the storm.
Governor Ortega urged residents to stay vigilant, monitor weather updates, and maintain close coordination with local authorities to safeguard their communities. “Mag-ingat po tayo at makinig sa mga abiso ng mga awtoridad,” he emphasized.
Clearing Operations Underway to Facilitate Relief Efforts
Personnel from provincial disaster and engineering offices are conducting clearing operations in affected barangays to remove debris and restore safe access. These efforts aim to reduce hazards and support ongoing rescue and relief activities.
