Authorities Crack Down on Alleged Motorcycle Racing in Bulacan

Authorities apprehended 24 individuals, including 12 minors, for alleged motorcycle racing in Bulacan province, officials reported. The incident occurred along the Mabalas-Balas-Galas-Maasim Bypass Road in San Rafael on Sunday evening, August 17, 2025.

Operation Initiated After Citizen Complaint

The Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP HPG) acted swiftly following a complaint from a concerned citizen about a motorcycle racing event. The complaint stemmed from an August 3 incident in which a minor was injured while racers attempted to evade the police, sources said.

In a briefing at Camp Crame, HPG spokesperson Lt. Nadame Malang stated, “The police acted on it immediately. During the apprehension, one minor being chased by local PNP units got into an accident and broke their leg.”

He added, “The PNP HPG followed up on this to arrest those caught in the video. This is the result of that, the 24 individuals were arrested, including the minors.”

Detention and Charges Filed

The 12 arrested minors were placed under the care of the Bulacan Social Welfare and Development Office for appropriate handling, community members noted. Meanwhile, the other 12 individuals were held in custody by the Bulacan Provincial Highway Patrol Team.

Authorities have already filed charges against the suspects for alarm and scandal, violations of Republic Act 10054 (Motorcycle Helmet Act), and Republic Act 11235 (Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act). They also face penalties under Republic Act 4136, the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, officials reported.

Lt. Malang confirmed, “There were modifications to the motorcycles we confiscated from them,” highlighting the illegal alterations found during the operation.

Motorcycles Seized During the Operation

A total of 19 motorcycles were confiscated as part of the crackdown against alleged motorcycle racing in Bulacan. This move aims to discourage dangerous racing activities that put lives at risk, local leaders emphasized.

Efforts to curb illegal motorcycle racing continue as authorities remain vigilant in protecting the safety of residents and motorists in the area.
