65-Year-Old Man Dies After Heart Attack Voting in Oas, Albay
A 65-year-old man tragically passed away after losing consciousness inside a polling precinct in Oas, Albay on Monday, Election Day. The incident was confirmed by the Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5).
“Positive po yun na-heart attack yung 65-year-old kaninang 6:05 a.m. (It is confirmed that the 65-year-old had a heart attack at 6:05 a.m.),” said PRO5 spokesperson Police Lieutenant Colonel Maria Luisa Calubaquib during a press briefing.
Heart Attack Voting Incident: What Happened?
The victim, identified as Nestor Rensales, had just finished casting his vote in a polling precinct located in Barangay Ilaor Sur. Shortly after, he felt dizzy and informed his wife about his condition. Moments later, he lost consciousness.
Responding quickly, first aid was administered to the senior citizen before he was rushed to Josefina Belmonte Duran Albay Provincial Hospital in Ligao City. Unfortunately, the attending physician declared him dead on arrival.
Background on Victim’s Health
According to the police report, the 65-year-old man had a history of stroke. This previous health condition may have contributed to the heart attack that occurred while he was voting.
This incident highlights the importance of monitoring the health of senior citizens, especially during stressful or busy situations like elections.
