98 Degrees Returns to the Philippines for Two-Night Concert
Known for hits like “I Do (Cherish You),” “Because of You,” and “Invisible Man,” the band 98 Degrees is back on Philippine soil, ready to perform at a two-night concert on May 30-31 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. This highly anticipated event has excited fans who have supported the group for decades.
During a press conference at a major hotel in Parañaque City, the members—brothers Nick and Drew Lachey, Jeff Timmons, and Justin Jeffre—shared what makes their Filipino fans so special. “We came to the airport, and there was a mob of them there waiting for us, making us feel like actual rock stars,” recalled Drew. Their warm welcome clearly shows the strong bond between the band and their Philippine audience.
Jeff added, “It’s good to be back here in the Philippines. We have an affinity for this place. We broke here before anywhere else, and we have the most success here. We are thrilled to be back after 25 years.” Meanwhile, Justin highlighted the hospitality of the Filipino fans, saying, “I think one thing that has not changed is how inviting the people are. We’ve been here for only a few hours, but they are already treating us like kings the entire time.”
Filipino Food and Local Favorites
Despite their busy itinerary, the band took time to enjoy Filipino cuisine and share their favorites. Nick, whose wife is half-Filipina, said, “My go-to Filipino food is Chicken Adobo, but yesterday I had pancit for lunch and it was amazing.” Drew also expressed his fondness for local drinks, mentioning, “I’ve had a couple Filipino beers since we got here, and I’ve got to say they were delicious.”
The group also expressed admiration for well-known Filipino artists. Justin named Regine Velasquez and Martin Nievera as inspirations, stating, “Martin Nievera, an amazing legend… Regine Velasquez is incredible, and there are so many talented artists here.”
The Secret to 98 Degrees’ Longevity
With a music career spanning three decades, the band was asked to share the secret behind their lasting success. Jeff explained, “I think patience and respect. After all these years, we have tons of respect for each other. The two of us are brothers, the other two grew up together, and we’ve been through so much together—highs and lows. It’s a unique experience that only the four of us can relay and talk about.”
Justin added, “We’re all from the Midwest in Ohio and we share the same values, so I think that really helps in our relationship as a band through the years.”
Produced by VAA Live, tickets for the two-night concert are available through official channels. Fans eagerly await the event that promises to rekindle the magic between 98 Degrees and their loyal Filipino supporters.
