2 Singaporeans, 1 Filipino nabbed for alleged illegal gun sale

Two Singaporeans and a Filipino were arrested for alleged illegal gun sale in an operation by the Philippine National Police (PNP).

According to a “24 Oras” report by Marisol Abdurahman on Friday, the operation was launched by the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) – Detective and Special Operations Unit (DSOU) in Valenzuela on Maundy Thursday.

“Actually, yung mga baril na in possession po nila mas maganda kesa sa mga binebenta nilang baril,” shared CIDG-DSOU Deputy Chief Michael Visco.

(Actually, the guns in their possession were better than the guns they were selling.)

The suspects have been under surveillance for months following information about their activities.

The operation was launched after a confirmed test-buy, where agents were able to buy four firearms.

Authorities were able to seize 11 guns and ammunition from the three suspects.

The Singaporean suspects have been travelling back and forth to the country as tourists and often participated in races, where they bragged about their guns, the report said.

“Minsan pumupunta sila sa Clark to race. Minsan, peers sila eh. They go to gatherings, and in those gatherings, apag medyo nakainom na yung mga taong eto, they brag about their guns they show their guns,” Visco shared.

(Sometimes, they go to Clark to race. Sometimes, they go by peers. They go to gatherings, and in those gatherings, once the people are drunk enough, they brag about their guns.)

“Pag kakilala ka nila, pasok sa circle nila. Once you have a firearm, we cannot know the possibility kung saan mo to gagamitin. Kaya this is still alarming,” he added.

(If they know you and you are in their circle.  Once you have a firearm, we cannot know the possibility of where you will use it, which is why this is still alarming.)

The suspects did not comment when asked by GMA Integrated News.

CIDG-DSOU is conducting further investigation. They are also looking into possible accomplices and the extent of their operations.

The suspects are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or Illegal Possession and Selling of Firearms. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
