A mother and son with disabilities cast votes in Abra
Early on election day, a mother and son with disabilities lined up to vote in Abra’s capital, Bangued. Among the 35,227 registered voters, Lorna and Jefferson showed their commitment to participate in the elections.
Jefferson, who has difficulty speaking, carried his mother Lorna, who has polio, as they made their way to their assigned precinct. “Siya ang paa ko, ako naman iyong tagapagsalita niya,” Lorna shared, illustrating their strong bond and teamwork.

Despite their challenges, Lorna and Jefferson never miss a chance to vote. They expressed hope that the needs of people with disabilities like themselves will be recognized and addressed by future leaders.
