Ai-Ai Delas Alas Opens Up About Political Offer
Following the recent midterm elections, Ai-Ai Delas Alas revealed she was offered a chance to run as mayor of Calatagan. Despite the tempting proposal, the beloved Comedy Queen clarified she has no intentions of entering politics at this time.
During her guest appearance on a popular talk show, Ai-Ai shared that she has received similar offers multiple times, though she has kept the specific government positions confidential until now. Interestingly, fellow singer Lani Misalucha was also approached with a political offer alongside her.
Why Ai-Ai Declined The Mayoral Offer
“Ako, na-offer ako. Marami nang times. Totoo. Kaya nag-aral ako sa UP, diba? Ng public governance,” Ai-Ai admitted. When asked if she seriously considered running for office, she nodded in agreement, confirming her contemplation. However, when Lani inquired about the position offered, Ai-Ai revealed it was to become the mayor of Calatagan.
Despite initially entertaining the idea, Ai-Ai decided to step back due to concerns about her mental health. She explained, “Una sa lahat, feeling ko, hindi ko pa kaya ‘yung gan’un kataas na posisyon. Bukod sa dapat mag-aral muna ako, mababang posisyon muna saka tayo mag-Mayora.” She further expressed, “Bukas ang loob ko pero hindi na. Okay na ako, ayoko na. Bugbog na bugbog na puso ko. Ayoko nang mabugbog pa.”
Ai-Ai’s Career Plans and Personal Life
Aside from discussing politics, Ai-Ai also shared her aspirations to break into Hollywood. She described this goal as her focus from now until 2026, saying, “’Yan ang gagawin ko ngayon. Gusto ko talaga, ’yun talaga ang plano ko for this year until 2026. ’Yun ang plano ko na gusto kong [mag-try] sa Hollywood kasi wala namang mawawala. Mag-isa na lang ako and there’s no harm in trying.”
Ai-Ai is a green card holder in the United States. Earlier this year, she confirmed that she withdrew the green card petition for her estranged husband, Gerald Sibayan. Their separation became public knowledge last November, stirring much discussion among fans and followers.
