Akbayan Party-List Congressmen React to Poll Results
The incoming Akbayan Party-list congressmen expressed surprise following the 2025 mid-term elections, where they secured the top spot in the party-list race. The unexpected win left the group visibly shaken by the results.
“Shook kami lahat sa naging resulta (We were all shocked by the results),” said one congressman-elect in an interview after their proclamation at Manila Hotel. Akbayan received a total of 2,779,621 votes, a significant rise from the previous 2022 elections when they initially did not make the winners’ circle.
Plans to Address Key Public Concerns
The new representatives pledged to focus on addressing issues that affect the daily lives of ordinary Filipinos. Their priorities include tackling the rising prices of basic goods and resolving the ongoing education crisis.
“Marami kaming nakaplano (We have a lot planned),” the congressman-elect added. He emphasized that the group intends to file numerous bills and resolutions soon.

The Akbayan Party-list stated commitment to collaborate with fellow lawmakers who share a dedication to progressive reforms. Alongside the leading congressman-elect, other party members will form a new bloc in the House, named the Akbayan Reform Bloc. This bloc will also include a representative from the Dinagat Islands.
