Manila, Philippines — Acclaimed actors Allen Dizon and Jeric Gonzales paid tribute to the late National Artist for Film, Nora Aunor, recalling her kindness, generosity, and unwavering professionalism as a colleague and mentor in the industry.
In an interview aired on GMA’s “24 Oras” via Lhar Santiago’s Chika Minute segment, Dizon described Aunor as someone whose generosity left a lasting impression on everyone she worked with.
“Napakabait niyang katrabaho, napaka-professional, napaka-generous,” said Dizon.
“Every day on set, she gave out food and money. She was thoughtful to everyone. Nakaka-miss talaga.”
Gonzales echoed the sentiment, expressing deep sorrow over the actress’s passing. He described Aunor as a maternal figure, having worked with her on three films, including the award-winning Hustisya, where Aunor earned the Best Actress Award at the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival.
“Nanay ko talaga siya. Tinuring niya akong anak at naramdaman ko ‘yon. Her love and generosity were very real,” Gonzales shared.
Nora Aunor passed away on April 16 due to acute respiratory failure. She was laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City on Tuesday, in honor of her legacy and contributions to Philippine cinema.
Dizon also revealed that he worked with Aunor in a yet-to-be-released film, making her absence even more poignant.
Dizon and Gonzales Reunite in “Fatherland”
Meanwhile, both actors appear in the newly released film “Fatherland”, directed by veteran filmmaker Joel Lamangan. The film stars Iñigo Pascual as a young man in search of his father, discovering deeper truths about identity, patriotism, and the meaning of being Filipino along the way.
“It’s called Fatherland because while the main character is looking for his father, he discovers his love for the Philippines,” Dizon explained.
“The film showcases our Filipino identity,” added Gonzales, emphasizing the project’s message of national pride.
The film also features Richard Yap, Kazel Kinouchi, Yasser Marta, Abed Green, and others, aiming to blend personal narrative with social reflection.
