MANILA, Philippines — Alynna Velasquez paid tribute to her late longtime partner, OPM legend Hajji Alejandro, at his star on the Eastwood City Walk of Fame after revealing she was unable to attend his wake due to circumstances beyond her control.
Dressed in black, Velasquez offered flowers and a heartfelt message at the site, where candles and photos of the singer were also placed.
“I was unable to go to your wake for reasons I don’t have control of. But I am glad I am here to pray for you,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “You truly are a legend and your wonderful music will live on forever. We love you so much!” she added, using the hashtags #IMissYouLove and #HappyAnniversary.
Hajji Alejandro passed away on Tuesday at the age of 70 following a battle with stage 4 colon cancer. Velasquez had earlier shared that they were supposed to celebrate their 27th anniversary on April 22.
According to Velasquez, Alejandro underwent surgery in February after being diagnosed earlier in 2025.
Dubbed the “original heartthrob of college girls,” Alejandro rose to fame as a member of the iconic Circus Band and went on to win the Metro Manila Popular Music Festival for his song Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika.
His hit songs include Panakip-butas, Tag-Araw, Tag-Ulan, and many more that left a lasting legacy in Filipino music.
