Angels Walk for Autism Draws Over 40,000 Participants

Angels Walk for Autism Unites Thousands

The annual Angels Walk for Autism is set to light up the Mall of Asia Arena this May 18, marking the largest gathering for autism inclusion in the country. This event, rooted in a call for an inclusive society, has grown tremendously since its humble beginnings.

Originally starting with just 200 participants at Quezon Memorial Circle in 2000, the walk has evolved into a powerful symbol of strength, hope, and acceptance. Now, with 106 chapters and more than 16,000 members nationwide, the organization behind the walk continues to expand its reach and impact.

Over 40,000 Registered Participants Confirmed

In a recent intimate press conference, it was announced that the Angels Walk for Autism has already registered over 40,000 participants this year. This incredible turnout highlights the growing awareness and support for autism inclusion across the Philippines.

“Every year, Angels Walk grows louder and prouder,” stated the national spokesperson. “But this time, we wanted to make sure that the community and their stories take center stage. This is about the families who live this reality every day and about creating a society that truly sees, hears, and supports them.”

Community-Led Walks Expand Nationwide

Beyond Metro Manila, the Angels Walk for Autism has extended its reach through community-led walks held simultaneously in various cities such as Lipa, Lucena, Iloilo, Tuguegarao, Davao, Butuan, Baguio, Bacolod, Cebu, and Malaybalay. These local events further emphasize the nationwide commitment to autism awareness.

Personal Stories Fuel the Mission

The event also spotlights individuals with talents in arts and music who are on the autism spectrum, celebrating their skills and contributions. One advocate shared, “This advocacy has always been personal. It is not just about winning titles or speaking on stages – it is about making sure my siblings and others like them are included, respected, and empowered.”

She also added, “ASP has been my home, and it’s the home of thousands of families across the Philippines.”

Highlighting the purpose behind the large numbers, she explained, “It’s not just about strength and numbers, it’s all about strength and purpose… Because different is not easy, being different means ignoring what everyone else is telling you to do and believing that what you’re doing is right.”

Free and Open to the Public

The Angels Walk for Autism remains a free event, welcoming everyone who wishes to join. Interested participants can still register online and be part of this meaningful movement.
