Suspect Arrested for Antipolo House Burglary
An alleged member of the “Akyat-Bahay” gang was arrested after breaking into a house in Antipolo City and stealing valuables while the homeowner was asleep. According to reports from sources familiar with the matter, the suspect entered the residence through an unlocked door early Tuesday morning, May 20, in Barangay Mambugan.
The suspect took the victim’s mobile phone and wallet without waking him. As the suspect was leaving, the homeowner woke up and immediately realized his belongings were missing. He then gave chase to the intruder.
Confrontation and Arrest
During the pursuit, the suspect refused to surrender. Instead, he fired a homemade firearm, locally known as a “paltik,” which struck a tricycle parked nearby. The homeowner quickly called for police assistance.
Patrolling officers responded promptly, leading to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the homemade weapon. Authorities are actively searching for the suspect’s accomplices, who they say have already been identified.
Currently, the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. Community leaders urge homeowners to secure their properties and remain vigilant against similar break-ins.
