Six Active Mpox Cases Confirmed in Aurora Province
MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — The provincial government of Aurora has reported six active mpox cases in the area, raising health concerns among residents. Authorities emphasize the importance of following health protocols to curb the spread of the disease.
According to the provincial health office, these confirmed mpox cases include two individuals from Maria Aurora town, two from San Luis, and one each from Baler and Dipaculao. All patients are currently in isolation to prevent further transmission.
Mpox Cases and Current Situation in Aurora
Since January 1, 2025, a total of 19 monkeypox cases have been documented in Aurora. Of these, 10 are suspected cases, three are probable, and six have tested positive. At present, two suspected and three probable cases remain active, with no reported deaths so far.
Local officials continue to monitor the situation closely, urging the public to adopt preventive measures to protect themselves and their communities.
Health Advisories to Prevent Mpox Spread
The provincial health office recommends observing proper hygiene and safety protocols. These include covering the mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, ensuring good ventilation in enclosed spaces, frequent handwashing, and using alcohol-based sanitizers.
People are advised to avoid close contact with anyone showing mpox symptoms. Common signs include skin rashes or lesions accompanied by fever, swollen lymph nodes, sore throat, muscle aches, back pain, headaches, and general weakness.
Local leaders noted, “A total of 19 monkeypox cases have been reported since January 1, 2025. Of these, 10 are suspected cases, three are probable cases, and six are confirmed cases. Currently, there are two active suspected and three probable cases.”
