Man Arrested for Selling Unlicensed Guns in Batangas

Authorities recently arrested a man for allegedly selling unlicensed guns in Batangas province. The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) confirmed the arrest after a successful operation along Maharlika Highway in Barangay San Bartolome, Santo Tomas City.

The suspect, known only as “Zandy,” was caught early Friday morning at a gas station. Law enforcement officials recovered two caliber 5.56 rifles, a caliber .22 revolver, and several magazines and ammunition from him.

Details of the Firearms Bust

According to sources, Zandy was involved in illegal trading of firearms and gunrunning activities not only in Batangas but also in nearby provinces. Authorities used an entrapment operation to apprehend him, ensuring the suspect was caught in the act.

The CIDG emphasized that this arrest is part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on the illegal firearms trade, which threatens public safety and security in the region.

Legal Charges Filed Against Suspect

Following his arrest, Zandy was charged with violating Republic Act 10591, also known as the Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. The case has been filed before the National Prosecution Service for further legal action.

Local officials and law enforcement agencies continue to monitor and act against illegal gun activities to protect communities from gun-related crimes.
