Authorities Arrest Wanted New People’s Army Leader in Bukidnon
BUTUAN CITY – Authorities successfully arrested a wanted New People’s Army leader in Sitio Dumalaguing, Impasug-ong town, Bukidnon province on Wednesday, May 28. The arrest of this key figure in the Communist Party of the Philippines-NPA North-Central Mindanao Regional Committee highlights ongoing efforts to dismantle insurgent groups in the area.
Brig. Gen. Seigfred C. Tubalado, commanding general of the 403rd Infantry (Peacemaker) Brigade, confirmed that the suspect, known by the aliases Ka Gab and Jano, was taken into custody based on warrants for frustrated murder and attempted murder. “The suspect was informed of his rights during the arrest,” Tubalado said.
Suspect Linked to High-Profile Atrocities
Authorities have kept Ka Gab under close surveillance for an extended period due to his alleged involvement in violent incidents that harmed innocent civilians. “The suspect had long been a subject of surveillance due to his alleged involvement in high-profile atrocities committed and affected innocent civilians,” Tubalado added.
Currently, Ka Gab remains in the custody of the Bukidnon Criminal Investigation Detection Group-Provincial Field Unit in Malaybalay City.
Military Leadership Commends Arrest
Major Gen. Michele B. Anayron Jr., commanding general of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, praised the operating units for the successful arrest. He emphasized that this operation sends a clear message to the remaining members of the NPA that the law will pursue them relentlessly. “The arrest sends a strong message to the remnants of the NPA that the law will go after them no matter how long it takes,” he stated.
Anayron also called on other NPA leaders and members to surrender peacefully and reintegrate into society. “It’s time for you to lay down your arms and take part in building a peaceful and progressive future,” he urged.
