Authorities Seize Suspected Ecstasy at Manila Port Area
MANILA, Philippines — Authorities intercepted suspected ecstasy tablets valued at approximately P855,100 at a mail hub in the Manila Port Area. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) confirmed the seizure, revealing the significance of this drug bust.
The illegal drugs were discovered inside a package during a routine inspection at the Surface Mail Exchange Department of the Philippine Postal Corporation last Thursday afternoon. The package, declared as “Produc:xsales good,” was shipped from Germany and addressed to a recipient in Caloocan City, sources said.
Upon closer examination, officials found a foil pouch inside the parcel containing a transparent plastic bag filled with around 503 pieces suspected to be ecstasy tablets. Despite the large quantity, no suspects were immediately apprehended during the operation.
Investigation and Testing Underway
The seized drugs were promptly handed over to PDEA’s forensic laboratory for detailed testing. Authorities are currently investigating the origins of the shipment, tracking down both the shipper abroad and the consignee within the Philippines. They are also probing any local contacts who might be involved in this drug trafficking case.
This interception highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to disrupt illegal drug networks operating through international mail channels. Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to drug shipments.
