Automated counting machine damaged in Marawi precinct
In Marawi City, an automated counting machine was damaged after a poll watcher poured water on the device at a polling precinct on Monday morning during the 2025 elections. This incident caused a brief disruption in the voting process.
Police officers quickly responded to the scene, but the poll watcher responsible had already fled the area. A technician from the Commission on Elections confirmed that the automated counting machine was indeed damaged and needed replacement.
Polling resumed after replacement arrival
The affected automated counting machine was assigned to four combined polling precincts serving Marawi siege evacuees in Barangay West Marinaut and Barangay Sagonsongan. Due to the damage, the casting of ballots was temporarily paused for a few minutes.
Once a replacement machine arrived, voting resumed smoothly. Authorities continue to monitor the situation to ensure a fair and orderly election process for all voters in the area.
