Automated counting machine software under review
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) recently clarified that the international certification body Pro V&V reviewed the final trusted build version 3.5—not version 3.4—of the automated counting machine software to be used in Eleksyon 2025. This confirmation assures the public that the correct software version is under scrutiny.
Comelec emphasized that Pro V&V found no mismatch between the automated counting machine software version and what was detailed in the Audit Report. This helps clear up any confusion regarding discrepancies in the software versions.
Source code review and report updates
Pro V&V also conducted a thorough source code review. However, they noted that the “Final Source Code Review Report” dated April 30 was outdated because it did not include updates submitted by Miru Systems on March 28.
Importantly, the Final Trusted Build completed its review by 9 a.m. Philippine time on March 29 in Huntsville, Alabama. This means the review process used the most recent and accurate software version available.
Ensuring transparency with revised reports
To address any remaining doubts about the system, Pro V&V has committed to submitting a revised Final Source Code Review Report. They clarified that this updated report will differ from the previous one only in file name, version number, and hash code, ensuring transparency without changing the substance of the review.
These steps aim to reinforce confidence in the automated counting machine software ahead of Eleksyon 2025, assuring stakeholders of the reliability and integrity of the election process.
