Bacolod City Enrollment Surges with 94,338 Students

Bacolod City Enrollment Hits New High

BACOLOD CITY – Enrollment figures in Bacolod City have surged this school year, with the Department of Education (DepEd)-Bacolod Division reporting 94,338 students enrolled across 199 public and private schools as of June 13. This notable increase in Bacolod City enrollment reflects strong community interest and readiness for the new academic year.

According to local education officials, 47,738 male and 46,600 female students registered between June 9 and 13. This marks a 30 to 40 percent rise compared to last year’s enrollment numbers, which ranged from 60,000 to 70,000 during the same period. Sources said some private schools have just concluded last school year activities and plan to start classes next month.

Enrollment Trends and School Capacity

Last year, around 125,000 students enrolled in Bacolod City schools. Officials hope to surpass this figure as enrollment continues. Preparations for the opening of classes are already underway, with Brigada Eskwela activities starting early this week to ready facilities and classrooms.

As a highly urbanized city, Bacolod has sufficient classrooms to accommodate the growing number of students. However, some overcrowding may occur in certain schools due to the sudden increase in enrollees. School leaders have anticipated these challenges and are implementing solutions to manage the situation effectively.

Addressing Classroom Overcrowding

One approach involves repurposing and modifying older school buildings after safety assessments, ensuring more learning spaces without compromising structural integrity. Local education officials emphasized that these measures aim to provide a conducive learning environment despite the rising Bacolod City enrollment.

Among the schools with the highest number of students are Bacolod City National High School, Handumanan National High School, Sum-ag National High School, Luis Hervias National High School, and Luisa Medel National High School. These institutions are preparing to welcome a large student body while maintaining quality education standards.

The local community remains optimistic that this upward trend in Bacolod City enrollment will support better educational opportunities for many young learners. For more news and updates on education, visit Filipinokami.com.
