Enhanced Security Measures for Over 260 Foreign Students
BACOLOD CITY – The Bacolod City Police Office is intensifying its efforts to ensure the safety of more than 260 foreign students arriving between June and August. This ramp-up in security measures comes after the Language Skills Learning Center (LSLC) requested increased police visibility to protect its international learners.
Local leaders noted that the City Tourism Office, BCPO, and LSLC recently met to finalize safety protocols for the rising number of students coming to Bacolod City to study English. Police Lt. Col. Joery Puerto of the Community Affairs Division shared that regular patrols will be enforced, along with the establishment of police assistance desks in strategic locations to maintain a secure and welcoming atmosphere, especially at night.
Strong Police Presence to Ensure Safety
Puerto explained that 46 police officers will be assigned to this initiative, conducting 24-hour patrols in areas where students stay. A robust street presence will allow quick responses to any incidents, providing peace of mind for students and their families.
The students, arriving from countries like South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and China, will be housed in neighborhoods including La Salle Avenue, North Drive, and 17th to 18th Streets. The enhanced security coverage is scheduled to run from June 29 to August 30.
Fostering a Safe Learning Environment
While Bacolod City is already recognized for its peace and order, the LSLC emphasized that this collaboration with local authorities will create an even safer, more supportive environment for international students. “A safe, welcoming city helps students thrive,” sources said, “and it positions Bacolod as a growing hub for global education.”
This proactive approach reflects the city’s commitment to providing a secure space where learners from all over Asia can focus on their studies without worry.
