Bacolod City Police Station Early Relocation Signals New Era
BACOLOD CITY – The Police Station 3 in Bacolod City is set for an early relocation to a permanent site in Barangay Mandalagan. This move comes after local authorities partnered with Rockwell Land Corp. to begin constructing a P20-million, three-story police station on Buri Road.
On June 9, city officials and Rockwell executives marked the groundbreaking of this significant public safety project. The new facility, replacing the temporary station beside the barangay hall, aims to enhance police services in the area.
Partnership Brings Bigger Facility and Shared Emergency Hub
The city government and Rockwell Land Corp. formalized their collaboration through a deed donation signing during the groundbreaking ceremony. Initially, Rockwell donated a 1,986-square meter lot, which was later expanded to 2,130 square meters to accommodate additional emergency facilities.
Aside from the police station, the site will host a fire substation and a Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) command center. Local leaders emphasized that clustering these services in one location will improve government operations and emergency response time.
Mayor Albee Benitez highlighted, “This will be the first of its kind in the city, all three key emergency facilities situated together,” underscoring the site’s public accessibility. He added that this integrated approach advances Bacolod’s goal of becoming a super city.
Funding and Construction Details
Benitez revealed that Rockwell has pledged an additional P10 million, matching the P10 million allocated earlier through Senator Francis Tolentino, bringing the total to P20 million for the police station’s construction. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will oversee the build, anticipated to finish within eight months.
The design will align with the city’s standard government infrastructure and complement Rockwell’s ongoing developments nearby. Future funding efforts will focus on building the fire substation and DRRM center, with an estimated combined cost of P60 million, pending DPWH’s final review.
Mayor Benitez expressed confidence in the city’s progress, saying, “I’m confident that Bacolod will become a truly remarkable city—not just because we have a well-crafted master plan, but because we are blessed with generous, productive, and efficient partners who will help us realize our vision of becoming a super city.”
Strategic Location and Expanded Police Coverage
Police Colonel Joeresty Coronica, director of Bacolod police, praised the new station’s strategic and vibrant location. The facility will serve Barangays Mandalagan and Bata, while Barangay Banago is set to receive its own police station soon, thanks to efforts by local representatives.
Incoming Mayor Greg Gasataya shared plans to establish additional police stations in Barangays Estefania, Banago, and Sum-ag. He stressed the importance of securing land donations or utilizing government-owned properties before applying for police funding.
Rockwell’s chairman and CEO, Nestor Padilla, a native of nearby Victorias City, expressed pride in contributing to Bacolod’s growth. “Bacolod deserves better. We truly feel this is such a beautiful place and this project is something all of us can be proud of,” he said.
