Post-Election Anti-Drug Drive Yields Major Seizures in Bacolod
Bacolod City authorities have intensified their campaign against illegal drugs following recent elections, leading to the arrest of three suspected drug dealers and the confiscation of 4.6 kilograms of shabu valued at P33 million. This successful operation highlights the city’s ongoing commitment to combat the drug trade.
In the early hours of Sunday, at around 2:15 a.m., the City Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a buy-bust operation in Barangay Estefania. They apprehended a 37-year-old suspect named Jom, who was found with 2.5 kilograms of suspected shabu worth P17 million. The drugs were cleverly concealed in tea and fruit packaging, and reports indicate they likely originated from Luzon. Local sources described Jom as a “bodegero,” or drug custodian, responsible for storing illegal substances.
Subsequent Arrests in Bacolod Reveal Extensive Drug Network
Just an hour later, Police Station 2 personnel arrested 41-year-old Robert in Barangay 2. He was caught with one kilogram of shabu valued at P6.8 million. Law enforcement officials identify Robert as a significant drug pusher with a previous record related to drug offenses. Similar to the first suspect, the seized drugs are believed to have come from Luzon.
Meanwhile, Police Station 8 officers apprehended a third suspect, Cherry, aged 41 and a resident of Jaro, Iloilo City. She was arrested in a lodging house in Barangay Singcang-Airport. Authorities recovered 1.1 kilograms of shabu worth P9.13 million, stored in a bag labeled in Chinese, along with a digital weighing scale. Reports reveal Cherry had arrived in Bacolod just hours earlier via a roll-on, roll-off vessel from Iloilo City.
Investigations Into Possible Connections and Drug Sources
Local officials said Cherry might be involved in drug operations spanning Iloilo and Negros Occidental. They also noted that the shabu she carried was likely sourced from Mindoro. Authorities are currently investigating if Cherry has links to the other two suspects, including shared suppliers and accomplices. These arrests resulted from diligent surveillance and intelligence work.
Authorities Renew Commitment to Community Safety
The city’s police director praised the units responsible for these successful operations. “We will continue to pursue those who threaten the peace and well-being of our community,” he affirmed. “With this accomplishment, we were able to save the lives of would-be victims.”
Officials urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities through designated hotlines or the nearest police stations. The arrested suspects, identified as high-value individuals in the illegal drug trade, now face serious drug-related charges.
