Bangsamoro Confirms Two Monkeypox Cases
COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro health ministry has confirmed two monkeypox cases in Maguindanao del Norte this week, while also monitoring six other suspected infections. The confirmation of these cases marks a critical point in the region’s ongoing efforts to contain the virus.
According to health officials, a 59-year-old woman from Sultan Kudarat and a 28-year-old woman from Datu Odin Sinsuat have recovered from the disease. Sources familiar with the matter added that contact tracing is actively being conducted to track their recent close contacts.
Monitoring Suspected Monkeypox Infections
Currently, six suspected cases are under observation. Three of these individuals are from Cotabato City, and one each is from Sultan Kudarat, Parang, and Datu Montawal. All suspected cases are undergoing confirmatory testing at a specialized tropical medicine research institute in Muntinlupa City.
