Ben&Ben Leads ALON Benefit Concert for Filipino Seafarers
Indie folk-pop-rock band Ben&Ben will headline the highly anticipated benefit concert ALON: Pag-ibig, Pangarap, Pag-asa. This special event, honoring Filipino seafarers and their families, is set for June 28 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila. The concert aligns perfectly with Seafarers Month, offering more than just entertainment—it’s a heartfelt fundraising initiative.
ALON aims to support the Gregorio Oca Leadership and Development (GOLD) Foundation. The foundation focuses on leadership training, welfare programs, and comprehensive family support for seafarers. The exact four word keyphrase “benefit concert for seafarers” captures the spirit of this event, connecting music with meaningful assistance.
Music Reflecting the Seafarers’ Journey
Organizers chose Ben&Ben to headline because their songs deeply resonate with Filipinos’ experiences—their love, dreams, and hopes. “Like the waves, the band’s songs carry both the sadness and even the fortitude of the seafarer’s journey, riding along the ocean’s vastness and their sacrifices,” said a concert producer, who is also a seafarer’s son. A recent survey showed Ben&Ben’s music topping charts due to its soul-stirring, hugot-filled melodies that echo the emotional voyage of seafarers.
Joining Ben&Ben is Kapuso actor Kelvin Miranda. Known for his breakthrough role in the Filipino Netflix Original film Dead Kids and as a recording artist whose song “Slow Dance” hit number two on the iTunes PH chart, Kelvin brings star power and heartfelt support to the event. He is also set to star in the upcoming TV series “Encantadia Chronicles,” playing prince slave Diwan Adamus.
Other Talents Supporting the Cause
The concert will also feature Tawag ng Tanghalan Season 3 finalist John Mark Saga, himself a seafarer’s son, along with the girl group Calista, made up of Anne, Denise, Elle, and Dain. Their performances add to the vibrant celebration of seafarers’ sacrifices and aspirations.
