Ben&Ben to Lead ALON Benefit Concert for Seafarers
Indie folk-pop-rock band Ben&Ben will headline the tribute concert “ALON: Pag-ibig, Pangarap, Pag-asa,” a special event honoring Filipino seafarers and their families. The concert will take place on June 28 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
Coinciding with Seafarers Month, the ALON benefit concert aims to raise funds for the Gregorio Oca Leadership and Development (GOLD) Foundation. This organization supports leadership training, welfare programs, and comprehensive family services for seafarers across the country.
The concert producers chose Ben&Ben because their heartfelt music resonates deeply with the Filipino spirit. As one producer explained, “Like the waves, the band’s songs carry both the sadness and even the fortitude of the seafarer’s journey, riding along the ocean’s vastness and their sacrifices.”
Star-Studded Performances Highlight ALON
Joining Ben&Ben are other celebrated Filipino artists, including Kapuso actor Kelvin Miranda. Kelvin gained fame for his role in the first Filipino Netflix Original film “Dead Kids” and is also a recording artist with a chart-topping single, “Slow Dance.”
Kelvin will also appear in the upcoming series “Encantadia Chronicles” as Prince Diwan Adamus. Meanwhile, Tawag ng Tanghalan Season 3 finalist John Mark Saga, who is himself a seafarer’s son, and the girl group Calista will also perform to support the cause.
Supporting Seafarers Through Music and Unity
Produced by OrangeSkies Productions in partnership with the GOLD Foundation, ALON is more than a concert. It is a movement that upholds the values of tenacity, integrity, and excellence championed by Capt. Gregorio Oca.
The GOLD Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the maritime industry and uplifting the lives of seafarers and their families. Its founder and president, Marissa Oca, leads efforts to preserve these core values.
With ALON, the organizers hope to inspire hope, love, and dreams (Pag-ibig, Pangarap, Pag-asa) among seafarers, reflecting their sacrifices and dedication to the nation.
