Bicol Police Mobilize Disaster Response Teams
The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) has activated its disaster response teams as a low-pressure area continues to bring moderate to heavy rains across the Bicol Region. Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of residents in flood-prone areas.
PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Nestor Babagay Jr. instructed all unit commanders to work closely with local government units (LGUs) to facilitate the evacuation of residents from vulnerable low-lying communities. “The safety of every Bicolano is our utmost priority. Your police are always ready to serve, protect, and respond whenever disaster strikes,” Babagay emphasized.
Readiness of Police Forces
A total of 563 police personnel have been placed on standby for immediate deployment. This includes 453 members from the Reactionary Standby Support Force and 110 officers specialized in search, rescue, and retrieval operations. These teams are strategically prepared to assist communities affected by the ongoing weather disturbance.
Meanwhile, the Critical Incident Monitoring Action Team continues to track the low-pressure area to ensure timely responses as conditions evolve. Their constant vigilance aims to provide swift action and coordination among responders.
Public Advisory and Safety Measures
Authorities urge the public to remain alert and observe all recommended safety protocols during this period of heavy rainfall. Community members are encouraged to report any emergencies promptly to ensure quick assistance.
“The safety of every Bicolano is our utmost priority,” local leaders noted, reinforcing the importance of cooperation between residents and emergency responders.
