Bising and Habagat Affect Over 27,000 Families Across Luzon
More than 27,000 families across Luzon have been impacted by the combined forces of Typhoon Bising and the southwest monsoon, locally known as the habagat, according to disaster officials. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported this situation on Monday morning.
As of 8:00 a.m., over 27,400 families, totaling approximately 82,500 individuals, are affected by the two weather systems. These figures highlight the widespread reach of the storms in the region.
Central Luzon Bears the Brunt
The majority of those affected reside in Central Luzon, where over 26,700 families, or more than 80,000 people, have been impacted. The Ilocos Region follows with more than 600 families affected, and the Cordillera Administrative Region reports under 100 families suffering from the adverse weather.
Despite the widespread disruption, local authorities have not yet recorded any deaths or significant damage to agriculture and infrastructure linked to Typhoon Bising and the habagat.
Ongoing Rainfall and Weather Conditions
Though Typhoon Bising has moved away from the Philippine landmass, its presence continues to intensify the southwest monsoon. This has resulted in persistent rains across Metro Manila and various provinces, prolonging the effects of the habagat.
Local sources noted that Bising made landfall in Taiwan on Sunday night and is forecasted to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Monday morning, easing direct storm threats but leaving behind lingering weather disturbances.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant as rains continue, and to follow updates from authorities regarding any changes in weather patterns or safety advisories.
