BOC Intensifies Probe on Discaya Family Vehicles
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is expanding its investigation and custody over the luxury vehicles linked to the Discaya family. The Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) has submitted crucial documents to the BOC, confirming details about these vehicles.
According to officials, the PNP-HPG handed over comprehensive records including vehicle types, registered owners, motor vehicle file numbers, and plate numbers. This cooperation aims to support the BOC’s ongoing efforts to verify the legitimacy of the Discaya family’s luxury cars.
HPG Provides Full Vehicle Records to BOC
During a press briefing, Lt. Nadame Malamang, PNP-HPG spokesperson, emphasized the group’s commitment to assist the BOC. “We have already provided the BOC with what they requested—the validation and verification of the eight vehicles they asked us for. Everything is complete: where the vehicles came from, what type they are, the MV file number, the plate number, and the registered owner—all of that we have already submitted to the BOC,” Malamang stated.
He added, “The HPG is open to whatever orders the BOC may give us, provided these are under the laws we are mandated to enforce—and your HPG will truly carry them out.” This statement highlights the law enforcement community’s unified front in curbing illicit activities involving luxury assets.
BOC Takes Custody of 28 Luxury Cars
On Thursday afternoon, the BOC officially took custody of 28 luxury vehicles owned by the Discaya family. This follows the surrender of 16 additional cars, supplementing the 12 vehicles previously seized under a search warrant executed at the St. Gerard Construction General Contractor and Development Corp. compound in Pasig City.
Sources revealed that the Discayas voluntarily handed over these vehicles after the Bureau’s intensified scrutiny. The seizure underscores the government’s resolve to trace and regulate assets possibly tied to irregularities.
Local Leaders Highlight Links to Flood Control Contracts
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto noted the connection between the Discaya family and major government flood control projects. He pointed out that two of the fifteen contractor firms awarded the bulk of these projects are owned by the Discayas, who are related to his political rival Sarah Discaya in the 2025 elections.
Specifically, Mayor Sotto identified Alpha & Omega General Contractor & Development Corp. and St. Timothy Construction Corporation as the top contractors owned by the Discaya family. These firms reportedly received substantial portions of the government’s flood mitigation budget.
Significant Flood Mitigation Budget Awarded to Discaya Firms
The list of contractors was revealed shortly after the administration announced that P100 billion, roughly 20 percent of the P545-billion flood control budget from July 2022 to May 2025, went to these 15 firms. The Discaya-owned companies ranked prominently among the recipients.
This revelation has sparked discussions among community members and officials about transparency and accountability in government project awards, especially involving families with political ties.
