Bohol Government Rolls Out 90-Day Feeding Program
TAGBILARAN CITY, BOHOL – As part of the 51st Nutrition Month celebration this July, the provincial government of Bohol has initiated a province-wide campaign to fight child malnutrition. This 90-day feeding program aims to reach thousands of undernourished children across the province with vital nutrition support.
Guided by the Provincial Nutrition Council (PNC), the 90-day Dietary Supplementation Program will aid 2,638 children. The initiative has a budget of P10 million allocated for milk and milky bun feeding, local officials said.
Targeted Support for Severely Underweight Children
Moreover, 281 severely underweight schoolchildren in Bohol will receive food packs between July 23 and 25. These food packs are funded through proceeds from a previous summit raffle, according to local sources.
“Reducing malnutrition starts at home,” emphasized Provincial Nutrition Program Coordinator Glenda Grafilo. She highlighted the crucial role of backyard gardening and accessible food sources for families to improve nutrition.
Encouraging Family-Based Nutrition Solutions
Between July 16 and 18, 948 families with children experiencing stunting or severe stunting will be given vegetable seeds. This effort encourages households to boost their food production and improve dietary diversity.
Health and Nutrition Under Strategic Change Agenda
This campaign is part of Bohol’s broader commitment to inclusive health services, aligned with the Strategic Change Agenda. It receives strong support from the Provincial Health Office and the governor’s office.
Nutrition Month activities will conclude on July 31 with various contests and advocacy events designed to raise awareness about food and nutrition security throughout the province.
