Early Drug Bust Yields Over P13.8M Meth in Bohol
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — In a major breakthrough, authorities seized more than P13.8 million worth of suspected methamphetamine during an early drug bust in Barangay Songculan, Dauis town. The operation, conducted Thursday morning, also led to the arrest of two suspects.
The detained individuals, aged 39 and 37, are residents of Barangay Mantatao in Calape town, Bohol. Local officials confirmed the haul included approximately 2,030 grams of suspected shabu, valued at around P13,804,000.
Recovered Items and Evidence
Aside from the suspected meth, authorities confiscated buy-bust money, mobile phones, a backpack, a digital weighing scale, and a motorized banca. The boat is believed to have been used in transporting the illegal drugs.
Col. Arnel Banzon, Bohol police director, described the suspects as high-value targets. He emphasized that the early drug bust sends a clear warning to those involved in illicit activities within the province.
“This successful operation underscores our commitment to disrupt the illegal drug trade in Bohol,” Col. Banzon said in a statement.
Community Urged to Stay Vigilant
Lt. Col. Norman Nuez, provincial police spokesman, highlighted the importance of intelligence sharing and agency coordination in the operation. He urged the public to remain watchful and report any suspicious behavior to help maintain a drug-free and peaceful community.
“Ang operasyon sa Dauis nagpamatuod sa gahum sa intelihensya ug kooperasyon sa mga ahensya,” he noted. “We encourage everyone to be vigilant and support our efforts.”
