One Killed in Bongo Truck Accident Dorol Bridge Bohol
One person died and five others were injured in a tragic bongo truck accident Dorol Bridge Bohol on the morning of August 9, 2025. The incident happened around 10 a.m. when the vehicle reportedly lost control on the bridge connecting Antequera and Balilihan towns.
The bongo truck was transporting five passengers to Balilihan to deliver bermuda grass. According to local sources, the driver, identified as Rosario Tongco, Jr. from Barangay Bungahan, Antequera, lost control of the vehicle’s brakes, causing it to crash violently into the bridge’s railing. Fortunately, the truck narrowly avoided plunging off the bridge into the river below.
Eyewitnesses Describe the Crash
Witnesses at the scene reported that the impact was strong enough to throw one passenger out of the vehicle. Immediate help came from the nearby Balilihan Ambulance and Rescue Team, who rushed to the site and transported the victims to the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Medical Center in Tagbilaran City, about 18 kilometers away.
Casualties and Rescue Efforts
Medical personnel pronounced the most severely injured passenger dead on arrival at the hospital. The other passengers, including the driver, sustained injuries and received urgent treatment. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the brake failure and the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
Local leaders noted the urgent need for improved vehicle maintenance and road safety measures, especially on critical infrastructure like the Dorol Bridge.
