Buboy Villar’s Early Lessons in Family Care and Generosity
Since childhood, the Kapuso comedian and TV host Buboy Villar has learned to be nurturing and generous toward his family. He fondly recalls a memorable moment when he first felt joy from bringing a gift to his mother.
As Buboy shared during a vodcast with Tuesday Vargas called “Your Honor,” he used to watch his mother compete in barangay singing contests. Inspired by her, he secretly decided one day to sneak out and join a singing contest himself, wearing one of his mother’s sparkling costumes without her knowledge.
Joining a Singing Contest in Secret
However, upon arriving at the contest venue, he quickly learned it was meant for adults only. He was the only child participant.
Pinakanta nila ako, binigyan nila ako ng bigas, de lata,” he laughed.
The Unexpected Support from Family and Community
A neighbor witnessed Buboy’s participation and told his mother. Contrary to what one might expect, his mother wasn’t angry. Instead, she encouraged him to continue pursuing what he started.
Buboy shared.
How This Experience Shaped His Talent and Values
That moment sparked a continuous journey that remains with him to this day. Buboy credits that experience for revealing his talent and passion.
Through this heartfelt story, Buboy Villar demonstrates how early family experiences can inspire lifelong values of care, generosity, and pursuing one’s talents.
