Bureau of Customs Meets Independent Commission for Infrastructure

BOC to Submit Documents to ICI

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) will meet with the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) this Friday to provide crucial documents supporting ongoing investigations. Officials reported that this collaboration aims to enhance transparency and accountability in infrastructure projects across the country.

BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno announced the scheduled meeting on Wednesday, emphasizing the bureau’s commitment to cooperate fully with the Independent Commission for Infrastructure. “We are prepared to submit all necessary documents to aid the investigation,” he stated.

Seizure of Luxury Vehicles Linked to Contractors

Earlier this week, the Bureau of Customs issued a warrant of seizure and detention for 13 luxury cars. These vehicles are reportedly owned by the contractor couple Pacifico “Curlee” and his spouse, who have been subjects of scrutiny in connection with infrastructure contracts. Community members noted that the move is part of a broader effort to ensure that public funds are used appropriately.

Sources said that the seizure reflects intensified efforts to address irregularities and possible corruption within infrastructure projects. The meeting between BOC and ICI will likely delve deeper into these concerns as part of the ongoing probe.

Strengthening Oversight in Infrastructure Projects

Local leaders highlighted the importance of cooperation between government agencies such as the BOC and the Independent Commission for Infrastructure. They believe this partnership will help uncover any misconduct and promote integrity in public works.

Officials reported that the documents to be submitted include records related to importation, customs clearances, and ownership of assets linked to contractors involved in infrastructure development. These materials are expected to provide valuable insights that will support the commission’s investigation.

Commitment to Transparency and Accountability

The Bureau of Customs continues to reinforce its dedication to transparency by assisting the Independent Commission for Infrastructure. This collaboration is seen as a vital step in safeguarding public interest and ensuring that infrastructure projects meet legal and ethical standards.

Community members expressed cautious optimism, hoping that these efforts will lead to meaningful reforms and deter future irregularities in infrastructure dealings.
