Bureau of Immigration Strengthens Frontline Personnel
The Bureau of Immigration has added nine new support staff and 20 immigration officers to boost its frontline workforce. These new personnel, trained at the Philippine Immigration Academy, are ready to serve at key entry points, including Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado announced on June 5 that the graduates completed their training just three days earlier. “These new personnel, equipped with the necessary skills, with a heart to serve the public, are now set to be deployed to the frontlines,” Viado shared.
He further emphasized that this marks a fresh start for the agency, aligning with the President’s vision of Bagong Pilipinas through a Bagong Immigration approach. The fresh recruits will mainly be stationed at NAIA to strengthen frontline operations and improve service delivery.
Rigorous Selection and Training Process
The new team members underwent a strict hiring process, which included passing interviews and entrance examinations before entering the Philippine Immigration Academy. This ensures that only the most qualified and dedicated individuals join the Bureau’s ranks.
Local leaders noted that this move aims to enhance the efficiency and responsiveness of immigration services amid increasing traveler volumes. It also reflects the government’s commitment to public service and security.
The Bureau of Immigration continues to focus on developing its workforce to meet modern challenges, ensuring smoother travel experiences and stronger border control.
