Busuanga Airport Flights Canceled Due to Runway Stall
Several flights to Busuanga Airport in Coron, Palawan were canceled on Friday after an aircraft stalled on the runway, officials reported. This unexpected event disrupted airport operations and affected travelers scheduled to arrive and depart from the area.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) issued a Notice to Airmen that remained effective until 2 p.m. on the same day. According to sources, a PAL Express flight from Manila landed at Busuanga Airport at 7:47 a.m. but encountered a technical problem that prevented the plane from vacating the runway.
Flight Disruptions and Passenger Impact
Due to the stalled aircraft, Caap confirmed that a total of nine flights were canceled, one flight was diverted, and another experienced delays. These disruptions involved flights operated by CebGo and PAL Express, affecting many passengers traveling to and from the region.
Coordination Efforts to Resolve the Situation
Authorities are coordinating closely with PAL Express and the Philippine Air Force to swiftly remove the stalled plane from the runway. Local leaders noted that clearing the runway is a top priority to restore normal airport operations as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Caap Director General Raul del Rosario has directed airport management to provide necessary assistance to affected passengers. Flight adjustments are also being implemented to minimize further inconvenience.
Safety Remains Top Priority
“The safety of passengers remains our top priority. We are taking all necessary measures to ensure the runway is cleared safely and that normal operations can resume without delay,” Del Rosario emphasized.
Community members expressed understanding despite the disruptions, hoping for a speedy resolution. The authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as the incident unfolds.
