Massive Butane Canisters Seizure in Bulacan Warehouse
Authorities recently confiscated butane canisters valued at P21.18 million from a warehouse in Bulacan, officials said. The seizure happened following a search warrant executed last Monday in Barangay Pulong Buhangin, Santa Maria town.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) disclosed that the warehouse contained 4,236 sacks filled with a total of 423,600 empty butane containers of various brands. This discovery points to a significant violation involving the unauthorized reuse of containers.
Warehouse Owner Still at Large
The warehouse is reportedly owned by a man identified only as “Son,” who remains at large. Authorities suspect that he stored and reused the butane containers without proper authorization from the legitimate brand owners. This act constitutes a clear breach of existing laws governing container use.
Legal Charges Await Suspect
Once apprehended, the suspect will face charges under Republic Act 623, as amended by RA 5700. This law strictly regulates the use of properly stamped or marked bottles, boxes, casks, kegs, barrels, and other similar containers to prevent misuse.
The CIDG emphasized that the unauthorized handling of these containers could pose safety and legal risks. Investigators continue to track down the suspect and gather further evidence to support the case.
Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to butane container trafficking. The seizure highlights ongoing efforts to uphold public safety and enforce container regulations nationwide.
