CAAP Suspends Flight School Operations After Zambales Crash
MANILA, Philippines — The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has suspended operations of a flight school following a crash in Zambales that injured four individuals. The incident occurred around 9:31 a.m. on Friday in Iba town, involving a training flight on a Cessna RP-C2211 aircraft.
CAAP reported that the plane was conducting a training flight originating from Subic when the accident happened. Despite the crash, all four people on board—the flight instructor and three student pilots—were unharmed and received immediate medical attention.
Flight School Operations Suspended
In response to the accident, CAAP ordered the suspension of all flight training activities at Topflite Academy of Aviation Inc. (TAAI) for seven days. This action aims to ensure a thorough investigation and uphold safety standards.
Furthermore, the flight instructor and the student pilots involved have been administratively grounded. This measure helps maintain the independence and integrity of the ongoing investigation led by the Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board.
Investigations and Summons Issued
Authorities have also summoned key personnel from TAAI, including the quality manager, safety manager, flight instructor, and student pilots. They are required to provide explanations regarding the circumstances leading to the crash.
The CAAP’s swift response highlights the importance of maintaining strict oversight over flight school operations, especially following incidents that raise concerns about aviation safety.
