Calabarzon Has New Top Cop: Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky Takes Command
LUCENA CITY — Brigadier General Jack Wanky officially assumed his role as the new chief of the Police Regional Office 4A (PRO-4A), which covers the Calabarzon area, including Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon. This change in leadership marks a significant development for the region’s law enforcement.
This appointment came after Police Brigadier General Paul Kenneth Lucas, the former Calabarzon director, was reassigned as acting Deputy Regional Director for Administration at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO). Sources said this reshuffle took place shortly after the new Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, General Nicolas Torre III, began his tenure.
Leadership Transition and Background
The turnover ceremony occurred at the PRO-4A headquarters in Camp Vicente Lim, Canlubang, Laguna. It was led by Police Lieutenant General Melencio Nartatez Jr., Deputy Chief for Administration of the PNP, representing General Torre. Lucas served as the PRO-4A head for one year, eight months, and 16 days before moving to his new post.
During Lucas’s leadership, the region achieved notable success in law enforcement initiatives and strengthened partnerships with local government units and community stakeholders. Local leaders noted, “Under his leadership, the region recorded significant achievements in law enforcement operations and reinforced strong collaboration with local government units and community partners.”
Farewell and Commitment to Excellence
In his farewell, Lucas expressed his dedication to continue serving with the same integrity and excellence in his new role at NCRPO. He said, “As I now take on my next role, I carry with me the lessons, memories, and the spirit of Team Calabarzon—resilient, committed, and service-oriented.”
Wanky’s Vision for Calabarzon Police
Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky vowed to uphold and build on the successes of PRO-4A. He committed to intensify efforts against crime, illegal drugs, and insurgency. Moreover, he emphasized the importance of police discipline, professionalism, and transparency in his leadership.
Wanky hails from Buguias, Benguet, and belongs to the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class of 1992. His previous posts include chief of staff at the PNPA, deputy regional director for operations at NCRPO, director of the PNP Aviation Security Group, and regional director of the Western Visayas Police Regional Office.
New Appointments Under Wanky
Following the turnover, Wanky appointed Police Colonel Romulo Albacea as the new director of the Quezon police provincial office. Albacea replaces Police Colonel Ruben Lacuesta, who led the Quezon police since October of the previous year.
With this new leadership, the Calabarzon region’s police force aims to strengthen its operations and maintain public trust as it faces ongoing challenges. For more news and updates on Calabarzon has new top cop, visit Filipinokami.com.
