Campaign Materials Will Be Donated for Recycling
After Eleksyon 2025, campaign materials collected across Metro Manila will be donated to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) for recycling purposes. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced this initiative to turn used campaign paraphernalia into useful products.
Turning Campaign Materials into Profitable Goods
The collected campaign materials will be repurposed by Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) to create saleable items, such as tote bags. This project aims to provide livelihood opportunities for PDLs while promoting environmental responsibility.
Collection Efforts and Cleanup Results
MMDA personnel have actively gathered campaign materials throughout Metro Manila following the elections. On the first day of cleanup alone, about 10,100 kilograms, or 11.18 tons, of campaign materials were removed from various areas in the National Capital Region.
Distribution of Collected Materials
The cleanup collected 23,452 pieces of campaign paraphernalia from 16 cities and one town. Manila contributed the largest share with 4.05 tons, followed by Muntinlupa with 1.66 tons. Several districts in Quezon City, specifically Districts II, V, and VI, accounted for 1.27 tons.
Supporting Environmental and Social Causes
By donating campaign materials for recycling, the MMDA and BJMP are addressing both waste management and social rehabilitation. This collaborative effort helps reduce environmental waste while empowering PDLs through skills development and income generation.
