CCTV Footage Helps Police Arrest Robbery Suspect Quickly
In Iligan City, police swiftly arrested a 23-year-old robbery suspect within one hour, thanks to closed-circuit television footage that captured the crime. The CCTV footage played a crucial role in identifying the suspect shortly after the incident occurred at a residence in Purok 12, Barangay Tibanga, on Thursday, May 15.
A local businesswoman reported that the suspect forcibly entered her home by climbing through a window ventilation. He then stole approximately P79,200 from the store’s earnings before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, the CCTV camera recorded the suspect’s actions, providing vital evidence for the authorities.

Police immediately launched a manhunt following the robbery, using the CCTV footage to track down the suspect. Within an hour, officers from Iligan City Police Office-Station 5 (ICPO-S5) successfully apprehended him during a hot pursuit operation.
One police official highlighted the importance of coordination and video evidence, stating, “Well-coordinated response and the CCTV footage made the swift action in identifying the robbery suspect during hot pursuit operation conducted by the elements of Iligan City Police Office-Station 5.” The suspect is now in custody and faces charges related to the robbery.
Suspect’s Criminal History and Police Commendation
Authorities revealed that the suspect has been linked to previous robbery incidents in the area, indicating a pattern of criminal behavior. Community leaders and police sources praised the quick arrest, which helped prevent further crimes and assured public safety.
Meanwhile, ongoing police efforts in Northern Mindanao led to the arrest of 20 individuals involved in illegal drugs. During operations from May 17 to 18, authorities seized 72.65 grams of shabu, with an estimated street value of P479,020.
