Central Luzon Gun Ban Yields Significant Results
CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – During the five-month enforcement of the nationwide gun ban for the May 12 midterm elections, authorities arrested 619 violators in Central Luzon. The Central Luzon gun ban efforts also led to the seizure of 640 illegal firearms in the region from January 12 to June 11, local officials reported.
Police Regional Office (PRO)-3 Director Police Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo highlighted that these results reflect the police force’s strong commitment to upholding the law and protecting communities, especially during election season. “This accomplishment is a testament to the commitment and proactive stance of our police force in enforcing the law and safeguarding our communities, especially during the election season,” she said.
Collaboration Key to Success
Fajardo emphasized that enhanced cooperation between law enforcement units, local government agencies, and community partners was crucial in this achievement. She noted that these partnerships helped uncover illegal firearms and prevented possible election-related violence.
These operations align with the Philippine National Police’s broader mission to promote safety and security nationwide. This initiative supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to increase police visibility and presence in communities throughout the country.
Community Vigilance Encouraged
The police chief urged citizens to stay alert and assist authorities by reporting suspicious behavior, particularly regarding illegal firearms. She encouraged the public to contact their nearest police stations or use PRO-3’s official hotlines and social media platforms for reporting.
Local leaders noted that ongoing vigilance and cooperation will remain vital to sustaining peace and order beyond the election period.
