Chito Samontina’s Rise in Bisaya Content Creation

Chito Samontina’s Journey to Digital Success

For aspiring creators, one important lesson stands out: authenticity drives success. This is evident in the rise of Chito Samontina, a digital content creator whose impact on Bisaya audiences is significant. With over 3.5 million followers on Facebook, nearly 889,000 subscribers on YouTube, and 450,000 TikTok fans, Chito’s presence is nothing short of a digital community powerhouse.

Chito’s story highlights the power of embracing one’s cultural roots. He credits fellow Bisaya television host and comedian Melai Cantiveros as a source of inspiration. In a recent interview, Chito praised Melai’s genuine humor and authenticity, qualities he strives to reflect in his own work.

Expanding Influence Through Television

Aside from his thriving online platforms, Chito has ventured into television. He recently appeared alongside Melai in an acting challenge on the show “Kuan On One,” showcasing his adaptability and eagerness to explore different entertainment formats.

During a recent event in Davao, Chito shared insights about his transformation from a BPO professional to the celebrated “King of Bisaya Talk.” He explained how his unique blend of corporate experience and cultural pride shaped his career path.

From Corporate to Content Creation

“Before the vlogs, I was navigating the corporate maze as an American Accent Trainer and later as a Corporate Communications professional in various BPO companies. Picture me in a tie, teaching ‘How now brown cow’ with a Bisaya accent. Just kidding. You know us, Bisaya, English is our strong suit, but not Tagalog. Baliko na tayo diyan. I lived in Quezon City. My entire journey took me from the bustling streets of Manila to the serene beach vibes of Davao. Of course, I will choose Davao. This is my hometown, and there’s no place like home,” Chito recounted.

He revealed that his content journey began in 2016 when he uploaded a simple video for friends that unexpectedly went viral. His Bisaya parodies struck a chord with many viewers, resonating deeply within the Bisaya community.

Promoting Bisaya Culture Through Content

By 2022, Chito launched “CHITchat, Ato Ni!,” a talk show dedicated to sharing Bisaya stories and voices. Leaving the BPO industry behind, he fully embraced vlogging and content creation as his true passion.

“Beyond the laughs and likes, my true passion lies in promoting the Bisaya dialect. Through my content, I showcase the richness of the Bisaya culture, proving that our language is not just for everyday conversations but also storytelling, humor, and inspiration,” he shared.

Chito’s dedication to highlighting Bisaya heritage remains strong. His content encourages others to appreciate and celebrate their own cultural identities.

The Power of Authenticity and Cultural Pride

Chito Samontina’s success serves as a powerful example of how staying true to one’s roots can resonate widely in the digital age. His journey encourages content creators to embrace authenticity and cultural pride while building meaningful connections with their audiences.
