Cignal Super Launch Marks Streaming Aggregator Breakthrough

Cignal Super Launches Streaming Aggregator Innovation

Cignal has boldly advanced its transformation as the Philippines’ leading digital multimedia company by unveiling Cignal Super, the country’s first and only streaming aggregator app. This new platform offers Filipinos streamlined access to an unparalleled variety of streaming content all within a single app. With over 70 million Filipinos increasingly watching entertainment, sports, and news on their smartphones, the launch of Cignal Super marks a significant leap forward in meeting evolving viewing habits.

Developed in collaboration with Tata Play, a top content distributor in India, Cignal Super aggregates diverse streaming services to deliver a seamless user experience. This innovative solution allows Cignal to reach audiences nationwide with unmatched convenience and flexibility.

From Pay-TV Pioneer to Multimedia Leader

Since 2009, Cignal has consistently introduced groundbreaking products. It initially flourished in the pay-TV sector by offering direct-to-home satellite services, bringing a wide array of linear TV channels to Filipino households, including remote locations. As broadband internet expanded, Cignal enhanced its content delivery through IPTV technology, partnering strategically with local telecom providers.

In 2019, the company entered the OTT streaming market by launching Cignal Play, a companion app for Cignal TV subscribers. This app enabled users to watch live TV and a vast on-demand library across devices such as TVs, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones. By 2023, Cignal Play was revamped and relaunched as a standalone app, opening its doors to a broader audience.

Expanding the Streaming Ecosystem

That same year, Cignal launched Pilipinas Live, quickly becoming the go-to OTT platform for Filipino sports enthusiasts. It offers live games, video on demand, news, highlights, user-generated shorts, and original content, delivering a rich sports viewing experience.

In May 2024, Cignal debuted Cignal Play TV, which lets subscribers stream linear TV channels via an Android box, eliminating the need for satellite dishes or traditional set-top boxes. This innovation made Cignal accessible even to users without smart TVs. Currently, over 1.4 million Filipinos subscribe to both Pilipinas Live and Cignal Play.

Adapting to a Changing Media Landscape

Cignal’s ongoing innovations demonstrate its ability to keep pace with the fast-evolving media environment in the Philippines. As numerous OTT platforms flood the market, viewers enjoy greater control over how they consume digital content. Recognizing this shift, Cignal has evolved beyond its pay TV origins to become a true multimedia pioneer, catering to diverse Filipino viewing preferences wherever they are.

“Cignal is ready to lead the way, wherever the market goes. Cignal Super is the latest digital innovation from Cignal, and there will be more exciting things to come,” said a top company executive. “By continuously adapting our platforms and business models to meet people’s needs, we provide the widest selection of news, sports, entertainment, live sporting events, and interactive experiences to every Filipino, wherever they are. We continue to work hard to be the beloved destination for Filipinos, delivering the most awesome content in the most connected ways,” she added.
