Weather Update: Tropical Depression Huaning
Officials reported that Tropical Depression Huaning formed early Monday morning within the Philippine area of responsibility, near Batanes. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) noted that the weather disturbance will influence rainfall and storms in several areas.
Expected Weather Conditions and Effects
According to Pagasa, the trough extending from Huaning will bring cloudy skies along with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to the Ilocos region, Zambales, and Bataan. Community members were advised to prepare for these conditions.
On the other hand, Metro Manila and most parts of the country are expected to experience generally fair weather. This is due to the weakening of the southwest monsoon, locally known as the “habagat.” Still, isolated rain showers and thunderstorms remain possible, officials reported.
Local leaders emphasized the importance of monitoring weather updates and urged residents to stay safe during this period. Class suspensions on August 18 reflect these precautionary measures amid the changing weather conditions.
