COA Launches Probe into BARMM Education Office
COTABATO CITY — The Commission on Audit (COA) began its investigation on Friday, September 5, focusing on alleged financial anomalies within the Bangsamoro government’s Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE). This probe aims to ensure transparency and accountability in the region’s education sector.
Audit Team Secures Key Documents
Early that morning, a COA special audit team, accompanied by police and Marine personnel, arrived at the MBHTE office. They removed a black plastic box containing important documents. However, the exact contents of this box remain undisclosed to the public.

Colonel Jibin Bongcayao, director of Cotabato City Police, confirmed that COA-BARMM Auditor IV Wilson Ibrahim Panawidan, acting assistant regional director, requested police and Marine assistance to safely retrieve the documents. The cooperation between agencies highlights the seriousness of the financial anomalies being investigated.
Documents Now in COA Custody
The retrieved documents were transported to the Tactical Operations Group located at Awang Airport in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte. Officials reported that the materials are now securely held by the audit team for thorough examination.
