Comelec to Reject Party-list Groups with Popular Names
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will no longer accept party-list groups that use names resembling popular TV shows or government programs such as “ayuda” in upcoming elections. This decision aims to maintain clarity and relevance in party-list group identities.
He emphasized that party-list names should clearly represent their advocacies.
Guidelines on Party-list Names and Accreditation
Garcia advised, “Sa mga susunod we will no longer allow. If they want accreditation, change the names of their party in accordance with their principles, kung ano ang kanilang plataporma.” This means that groups must align their names with their platforms and core values to qualify for accreditation.
